A Winter What's On at Headlam

There are so many great reasons to stay at Headlam Hall these next few months.  Beautiful shades of golden brown creep across the Teesdale countryside at this time of year, and there’s a freshness in the air as the nights draw in and the glow of an open fire welcomes you back to the hotel for dinner!  This is a fabulous season for a country house break in County Durham, and you can enjoy our popular Autumn Gold Break right to the end of November.  It includes two (or three) nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast, a cream tea on one afternoon, and use of the lovely spa facilities here at Headlam Hall.

If you’d rather stay in December and refresh yourselves before the Christmas onslaught, then our great value Christmas Advent Break might be just your thing, with mulled wine and mince pies to enjoy by the fire on your arrival at Headlam.  In fact, throughout November and December, hotel guests (or non-residents for that matter) can enhance their stay with a traditional Afternoon Tea in one of our lovely cosy lounges, and there’s a truly festive slant to the afternoon tea menu in December itself.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves!  On Friday 15th November, we have a special Drappier Champagne Dinner, which includes a delicious four-course meal prepared by Head Chef Austen Shaw and his brigade, and paired with four Champagnes from Drappier.  Two weeks later, on Friday 29th November, we are hosting our first-ever special Pub Night which takes place in the spa brasserie.

These days, Christmas Crafts are more popular than ever, so on Thursday 28th November we have a Wreath Making Workshop & Lunch, and on Monday 16th December the theme switches to a fascinating workshop on making your own Festive Table Centrepiece for Christmas.  Both events are open to everyone, guests and local residents alike!

Across the month of December, we have five Snow-Ball Party Nights - on Fridays 6th, 13th and 20th December, or Saturdays 7th or 14th December - and of course New Year wouldn’t be New Year without our annual New Year’s Eve spectacular.  Festivities and entertainment includes a Champagne Reception, six-course Dinner, Bag-pipers, magician, swing- singer, live pop/rock band, disco and fireworks.  What a way to see in 2025!
