Grown in Europe and North Africa the ‘old world’ wines are very much about traditional methods and heritage whilst ‘new world’ wine growers tend to adopt newer techniques and technologies. There are, however, many more factors to consider when looking at the different characteristics and the lines between the two can become somewhat blurred, even before the bottle has been opened! English wines continue to go from strength to strength and as well as offering the now wellestablished sparkling wines we also have an excellent white and red wine from these shores. We often and understandably tend to pick our ‘old favourites’ when it comes to choosing a wine but every now and then it is good to try something different as a new ‘old favourite’ could be discovered
